Board Commitment 3: Worldwide Association

Be the Worldwide Association for the Toll Industry

The mission of the IBTTA International Task Force is to reinforce IBTTA’s identity as an international organization. This mission flows from one of the major objectives of the Strategic Business Plan (2008-2010) adopted by the Board. One of the initial goals of this task force is to develop information, intelligence, case studies, and concrete arguments to vanquish the notion that travelling beyond the borders of one’s own country (or even one’s own state) is a boondoggle and not worthy of the expenditure of toll agency resources.

It is just great; go on, I'll use it in future too.

I think your handout is great! It is difficult to present a clearer message with fewer words. I am sure the audience will love it and your success is assured.

I quite liked your handout! It is, as always, provocative and clever and, for that, it should play the role of a discussion inducer. I would not have the talent to produce it but, now that I saw it, there is only way I can imagine it could become even better: to have a final line with some exclamation marks. They would suggest what I have been able to observe in these past recent years: that after some astonishment, it is possible, and it is desirable, that people from both columns (left-American and right-non-American) may actually understand why and how, after all, it makes a lot of sense to form and develop an association like ours.

Congratulations for your one-page document, which is funny and provocative indeed. One small comment, coming from a bad-spirited Frenchman. One way to understand the drawing is: the candid and honest American trying to speak with the candid and honest not understanding non-American, and not succeeding in it. That is OK. The other way to read it is: the silly not understanding non-American not even able to communicate with the good and honest American trying to cooperate. So, if I am allowed, I would first suggest to let the American say: “I am American and I do not speak any other language than American,” and finally, as Joao suggests, I would introduce some hope about the fact that, even if there are communication problems, “yes we can”!

As they say, a picture paints a thousand words. I believe Joao has a good comment.

In your one page handout, you enclose all the questions, and the ground for productive debate, on the challenge of becoming truly global while sitting in DC.

An ancient Greek proverb (actually Spartan) says, "To be wise, don't speak a lot.” In this respect, your one page presentation is excellent. Now, having the benefit of seeing the responses from most of you, I take the liberty of saying that unless someone takes the responsibility to fill in the question marks, then “it is all Greek to me.”
